expensive cars on college campuses

i study at the George Washington University in DC, and a friend of mine started a tumblr that spiraled out of control. It is based on taking pictures of cars on our campus. Some of them will shock you ! my friend is expanding it to be a website for any college cars.. feel free to poste some if your studying at a university and have a pic on campus
try to find mine :P

Pretty sad. At my apartment complex by the college I attend, there was a C63. Turns out the driver totaled it though. Smh. And they wonder why older people stereotype against kids with nice cars. Sadly though, it's true.

wow. I thought there was alot of nice cars at my school already (I go to psu). There was an SLS and a gallardo but no SLR or R8s maybe its because its in DC there are other cars that arent owned by students? lol

we have alot of AMGs and //Marketing cars around, and also some a couple Caymans

C63 AMG Coupe P31
i had a 94 pos Pontiac Bonneville with 200,000 miles on it in college. and that was my junior year. i was hoofin it for the the first two years. must be nice to grow up with money. i had to go earn my own

it would have been so much easier if my parents would have been loaded. i curse you mom and dad. joke.

nice collection of cars. take good care of them and give your less fortunate friends a turn at the wheel every once in a while

I study at De Anza college, seen 2-3 lambos, 1 ferrari california, 2+ GTR, 3 C63 (including mine), 1 X6M, 10+ M3 (they're quite common) 3 friends of mine drive E63, 911S, Aston Martin V8.. A not so close friend of mine drives SLR McLaren and Aston Martin Rapide, he studies at uni of san francisco, I think hes like 21 or 22

most good cars here are driven by international students, while MOST of the locals drive civics

Jeffield is bang on. UBC has ridiculous cars. A friend has an M3 coupe and said its really nothing special there (He's asian). That being said the thing is they are all asian who own these cars. Same here in Waterloo. Ive seen an asian girl driving in a C63 PP regularly, as well as one in a ML63. The only non asian Ive seen is a really hot blonde in an ISF. I think its safe to assume which university has the most asians will have the most nice cars. I hate to say it but it is so true.

And after talking to some friends they tell me that the parents buy the kids these cars so they can impress people, for young asian guys its mostly to get a girlfriend. We are seeing nicer and nicer cars because they have to "Stand out" more than the next asian guy. Pathetic in my opinion, but maybe thats just because I saved every penny for my car.

If you look into it, I think you'll find vast majority of those "asians" are Koreans. And the young asian (Korean) guys do it to get Korean girls who won't even look at you if you drive anything less than a $60k car. How to survive a date with a Korean American woman.

Not knowing the racial mix in BC, IMHO, it is unlikely that these excessive displays of wealth are Korean.
If you look at the Korean economy, they can barely feed themselves (I'm exaggerating).
It would make more sense that these extravagant displays of money are recent Chinese immigrants. Given their new found economic boon...

I went to school at Menlo College in Atherton California and there were some nice cars. Out of a student body of about 900 there was an Aston Martin DB9, Bentley Continental GT, BMW M6, BMW X5-M, MBW X6-M, BMW M3, Nissan GTR & of course the best for last, my E500!

Here are a few pix I took of them. My good friend had 3 of them, the Nissan GTR, The X5-M and the M6. I got to drive his old X5 4.8 and the M6 briefly.

Heres a video of the M6 I took outside my house in Menlo Park!

That's contradictory to the Chinese culture I'm aware of. Chinese parents tend to be more strict and controlling especially how and where their kids spent their money, regardless of their wealth. As far what I've seen in the US, first generation Koreans normally own their own business. While they might not be super rich, they give practically everything to their kids. I knew someone that drove a brand new Supra back in HS but both of his parents worked for the postal office. Just look around Annandale, where there's a large concentration of Koreans, you see Porsche, GTRs and Ms. On the other hand, Chinese kids I know are driving around in beat up Camry and Civic even if they come from a rich family. Plus no offense to our northern neighbors, but the really connected/rich Chinese sent their kids to US not Canada.

You just have not met the rich Chinese. They come to Vancouver to spend money and buy nice cars for their kids. Most of them rather live there, since David Lam pretty much built it for them and they have the best variety of Asian food/ groceries in N. America.

Well, I don't know if they only buy the cars to impress girls, because I see a lot of girls driving c63, m3, ml63.. To their parents, the cars are actually a GOOD deal. It cost way more for those cars in China. 100-300k in a 8 digit account isn't much. I still curse at them silently

Those cars are so sick! whats even sicker is that I bet 95% of them are owned by foreign students

Amen to that
