I know that several threads were initiated earlier on this topic, but i found that none of them actually has an answer to a simple question: what is a ball park estimate for c300 maintenance over 4 years? That includes required services at dealership and changing brakes, etc.
I understand that cost can vary from dealer to dealer, but could anybody just give a number?

My personal experience with my 08 C300 before trading it was that it had no issues over 3 years, just the regular service. I drove it 50,000 miles over that time and it was about 1200 per year in vearious services and another 900 or so in tires...

A lot will depend on how you drive it

Thank you, egauster. Now we have one data point that commands:
Services for 50,000 miles = $1,200 x 3 (years) = $3,600. I assume it includes the brake pad change as it makes it consistent with the data below.

I have also done an extensive search of many previous threads. There are a lot of not that useful discussions ,but i have found a useful thread:

Our second data point is :
$2200 for the services over 50,000 miles + $1,000 for at least one change of brake pads. Thus it is ~ $3,000 (4 years/50,000 miles) if you take it to a dealer for maintenance.

I am not going to ask a rhetorical question why is it not included as our BMW ) friends do, but, frankly , WHY?

1yr/10,000 - Service A1

2yr/20,000 - Service B1 + Brake Fluid

3yr/30,000 - Serivice A2 + Transmission Fluid Flush

4yr/40,000 - Service B2 + Brake Fluid + Engine Air Filter + Cabin Air Filter

5yr/50,000 - Service A3

You should also throw in cost of one time brake pads replacement & 4 brand new tires

BMW simply factor in the maintenance cost into their new car price..

I think that you got ripped off... A1 cost me $200 (first 10,000, which was 1 year for me). Second B1 at 20,000 cost me $375 (second 20,000, which was year 2 for me). And the third service would be A2 which is the $200 + the transmission fluid flush (shouldn't cost too much, $100 tops) so $300.

Total cost for 3 years or 30,000 miles = $200 + $375 + $300 = $875.

This is assuming that you will not need any brake pads or tires, if you do, then the numbers will change. However, it is also possible to get the services dones much cheaper, such as indy shops or DIY. I do my own service for my 2011 and I get the stuff for like dirt cheap, same OEM stuff, but I save the $100/hr labor rates, which really adds up. Not to mention there are DIY for pretty much anything you need to know how to do on the forum.

OR you an go another route, on my sisters lease for 39 months she added the maintenance plan which covers all her required services. Only added $10 more per month over the life of her lease, so $390 for 39 months, that is a fantastic deal if you ask me.

Also, it lists the following prices on the MBUSA website for Mercedes Benz Star Service Pre-Paid Maintenance :

2 yrs 20k miles = $619
3 yrs 30k miles = $769
4 yrs 40k miles = $1760
5 yrs 50k miles = $1942

The brochure claims a 30% savings versus purchasing maintenance as you go so figure $2300 for service plus $1k for tires and $1k for brakes so I would say $4300 over 4 years would be a decent estimate.

( why Mercedes doesn't just raise the price of the car $2k and claim maintenance is included for 5 yrs / 50k miles like BMW does is beyond me )

Could someone tell me what exactly I need to get done for my 2011 C300 4matic? My B1 service is due next week and i just want to educate my self before I walk in to a dealership, anyone could help please? Also, any idea on cost?

All the information is in there. This booklet should have come with your car. In short: B1 service is an A service (oil change and inspection) plus cabin filter. Dealers usually charge anywhere from $250-400 for this. Additionally, a brake fluid flush is due at the two-year mark which usually coincides with the B-service date, that will run you another $100-200. You may also be included in a recall campaign for the fuel filter flange, 2011 Cs are affected (MB pays for this replacement). I haven't gotten my letter yet, but I'm pretty sure it's coming...

Check out Edmunds.com True Cost to Own tool. It gives a decent average of 5-year running maintenance costs for most vehicles (including all of our cars' model years).

I keep a log of my services and repairs.

My C300 has 41,000 miles over 5 years. I did the last service myself, but otherwise (including the parts for that last service myself) I have spent $3100 including two sets of rear tires and one set of front tires.

However, I take two cars to my dealer and some of the services I had were not charged at full price (didn't ask for it but they rang up lower sometimes). I also do things like the cabin filter myself.

Of course, a C300 is no longer made so I'm guess you'd be buying a used car. A used car will likely require more services/repairs than a new one.
