R-Class Air Filter Change

I bought a pair of air filters for my R-Class and was very disappointed to discover that I have to remove the top cover of the engine to access the filters. Its very tight and I'm not able to remove both top covers as there is very little space.

Need some help...

Thank you in advance

Thank you, but the 320 cdi air filter compartments are on both sides of the engine not same as R500 on top.

Follow the steps in the PDF file in the post above. Worked for me on our 08 R320 CDI. It is not identical but after step 5 you should be able to work the rest out yourself. The big deal is getting the cross brace out so that you have room to work. The whole intake tubing and filters lift out as a unit after you remove a couple of screws on each side that hold the filter boxes down. Take your time and have a good look around and you can do it.

The only advice I had was to remove the cross brace and I figured out how to do that and did the rest by myself without any other help.

Good luck.

Disappointed?

Here's the thing about German cars: not a design nanosecond was devoted to making DIY easy.
